Surface Representations

We have made a limited number of surface models, using the Laminated Object Manufacturing (LOM) technology. The large model of the lac repressor tetramer shown below is one example of these large LOM surface models. More recently, we have begun using a Z Corp color printer to produce surface models made of either plaster or starch. These Z Corp surface models offer two major advantages over other methods. First, we can build the models with complex color schemes (such as electrostatic potential maps) printed right on the model. No post-build hand-painting is required. Second, these models will eventually be less expensive than of models built by the other technologies. Watch for an update to this web-page....with photos of these amazing models.
