Shipping rates vary based on box size, weight and destination. We offer both United Parcel Service (UPS) and U.S. Postal Service (USPS) for delivery, to help ensure the most cost-effective and reliable service possible. Customers in Canada should contact us for shipping costs. 3D Molecular Designs cannot ship to all countries. PLEASE NOTE:

  • UPS orders placed by noon (CT) are usually processed the same day. Expect shipments via UPS ground to take 3-5 days to arrive.
  • US Postal Service (USPS) orders are not processed until the next day, regardless of when the orders are placed. Expect shipments via USPS standard to take 3-9 days to arrive.
  • USPS Priority Mail (2-4 day) and Priority Mail Express (2 days) are NOT always reliable and may not arrive in time. This is beyond our control.
  • Orders placed on the weekend will not be processed until Monday morning.
  • Orders placed near a holiday may be affected by holiday shipping delays.
  • Orders with expedited shipping requests must be received by noon, in most cases. Please clearly note - or contact us - if you need to make sure your order ships the same day and/or arrives by a certain date.
  • Custom model orders take 2-4 weeks to produce. Larger and/or more complex models may take additional time to complete.

As a general rule, USPS shipping is less expensive than UPS; however, UPS delivery is more reliable. Once a package is in the hands of UPS or USPS, 3D Molecular Designs no longer has control over when the shipment will arrive at its destination.

Return and Refund Policy

3D Molecular Designs is a small, private business. In order to keep prices as low as possible, we cannot cover return shipping costs. If you wish to return a product, we will refund the purchase price once we receive the item, minus a $25 restocking fee. If a product is defective, 3D Molecular Designs will replace the faulty part(s) or refund the purchase price and shipping fees, at our discretion.

Don’t Have the Resources to Purchase Classroom Materials?

If you are among the growing number of teachers using DonorsChoose to raise funds for classroom supplies, please be aware that you can post a project seeking donations to purchase several of 3D Molecular Designs’ most popular kits – The Water Kit, Amino Acid Starter Kit, DNA Discovery Kit and Map of the Human β-Globin Gene. If successful, it will be fulfilled by one of our our re-sellers – Carolina or Nasco – who are DonorsChoose vendors. If you want to raise money to buy a 3D Molecular Designs’ product that is not available from Carolina or Nasco, you may be eligible to post a special request project, and we will be contacted to fill the order after it is funded. DonorsChoose has declined our request to become an official vendor because we are a small business. Please consider contacting DonorsChoose to kindly request that they add us to their list.

NEA Foundation

Grants are available to current members of the National Education Association who are educators in public schools or public institutions of higher education. Currently preference is given to proposals that incorporate STEM and/or global learning into projects. Grants will fund the effort for 12 months, and may be used for resource materials, supplies, equipment, transportation and technology. Teachers can apply for a $2,000 or a $5,000 award.

ACS-Hach High School Chemistry Grant

The American Chemical Society supports innovative chemistry teachers who wish to enhance classroom learning and raise students’ interest in chemistry. Funds can be used to purchase laboratory equipment, supplies and instructional materials. Teachers can request up to $1,500 for their ideas.

Toyota Tapestry Grant

In partnership with the National Science Teachers Association, leading car manufacturer Toyota has established a grant that helps K-12 teachers fund innovative, community-based science projects in environmental science, physical science and integrating literacy and science. The grants (up to $10,000) aim to help teachers increase the quality of science education and promote interest in students.

National Science Teachers Association (NSTA)

The NSTA Awards and Recognition Collection provides a number of links to funding opportunities to recognize the outstanding work being done in the field of science education.

In addition to PTAs, PTOs and local school district foundations, many community organizations support education projects. Consider contacting one in your area to schedule a student presentation:
